This is the end
Tomorrow I head home. Today was a museum indulgence. I think traffic in LA has gotten worst. It took two hours to get to the Getty, should of been under an hour, I left Covina after 9 so the traffic shouldn't of been to bad but it was stop and go all the way to San Monica and people do this every day!

Part of the "Pacific Standard Time" exhibit at the Getty. You weren't allow to take photos of the show so I did anyway. A survey  of LA painting and sculpture, worth seeing.

Another photo I wasn't suppose to take, umm, dead babies.

Nice Ducati outside of LACMA parked on 6th., the secret free parking area and today was a free day for museum enterance.

Edward Kienholz's "Five Car Stud" powerful stuff. No photo allowed.

At LAMCA was the "California Design" part of "Pacific Standard Time' Photos allowed.

Looking at a Joan Brown painting.

In general the whole LACMA complex is a architectural mess.

Same old scene on Hollywood Blvd. but I did notice some new upscale shops in business.

In to LA
Missed a exit so I've ended up Covina Tomorrow I will push into LA first stop will be the Getty for the Pacific Standard Time Exhibit.

Gas stop somewhere in Arizona.

A locals only spot in Tonopa Arizona, food was not to bad

Quartztime Arizona. On the other side of road are several large RV parks full of RVs, I guess here for the winter. There were a few of these buildings to accommodate the need to shop.

There were more trucks than cars, rest stop I-10.

By accident I ended up in Covina for the night next to I-10 across from this massive shopping center for the LA experience. All chains, all the time

Tucson
Not much  to report today, only a couple of photos. I must say Tucson is in some serious need of resurfacing the street. It would be hard to fine street this bad around  where I live or anywhere.
On the way to Tucson ran into a Border Patrol check point on I-10, further proof that we now live in a police state. Killing Americans with out the benefit of a trail, citizens held in  prisons without charges being brought and on and on.

Downtown Van Horn where I stayed Saturday night.

This is in Tucson's Pit Allen neighborhood near the university, the Telegraph Ave of Tucson.

Pit Allen

A nice house in the area.

You have to park back in, some I've never seem before. Makes it easier to get out, I guess.

Marfa
Marfa was a trip, art everywhere, several galleries in town and all of the Judd stuff made for quite an experience.

The Judd compound is an old army base and all of these building have a exhibit of some kind. A large room may only have one or two pieces inside. At some point in the future I will go thru the photos and post them. They did not want you to be taking photos.

The cube like objects in the background are Judds.

An old airplane hanger full of Judd cubes, there are two of these.

Interior of Hotel Paisano, restored to its former glory.

In Marfa there are several of these falling apart adobes.

Half way between Marfa and Van Horn is this Prada store in the middle of nowhere filled with Prada Merchandise.

Prada Purses.

Pecos part two.
Back from dinner. Went to a Mexican place, not bad, this place is some kind of gold mine it was packed and more people coming the door. Pecos is one of those places that makes Orosi/Culter look upscale.

Texas range land.

Rural road, this is the good part it later turns into large gravel.

Cadillac Ranch. This must be one of the more popular attractions around, while I was two guys from Europe came out and as I was leaving two more groups came out, this was around eight Friday morning.

The Graffie is about i/8 inch thick and covers every inch.

There were plenty of cans with paint lying around so I added my name.

I was there.

Texas farm land.

The sign says it all. This was a rest stop on the way to Lubbock, very classie.

Across the street from the Sheriff's office in Lamesa.

View from motel in Pecos.

Friday, Pecos

Last night I was in Amarillo with no enternet connection.

Thursday morning when I left Gallup it was wet, cold and windy, temp in the low 40s. Since I left Vegas I have been fighting the wind, either head-on or a cross wind, 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, it been a hard slog to say the least. I've arrive in Pecos at a decent time today and I hope to get a good start in the morning for Marfa.
The following are from Thursday.

Saw this guy in Gallup

Downtown Gallup. In Arizona and New Mexico you see a lot of Indian Jewelry stores a major part of the economy.  How much of this is real? There were also several wholesale outlets. I would be afraid to buy any of this except from the artist.

There are several of these in Gallup, They are about five feet tall.

More stores, downtown Gallup.

Western New Mexico landscape also similar looking landscape in Texas.

Eastern New Mexico landscape, enchanting.

Old Route 66 with Instate 20 in background. The photo before and following were taken from this road.

Landscape

Eastern NM close to Texas.

In NM, I forgot the town.

Just across the border into Texas.

On the road to Gallup
Looking at Lake from Bolder City. The old downtown is quite nice Kinda of like a Calistoga or Nevada City. I also missed the turn off to Hoover Dam.

The sign says no selling but.

The next two photos are of Seligam one of may old Route 66 Tourist towns, had lunch. Interstate 40 follows a lot of Route 66 so you get a lot of these towns.

Drive though Arizona was a grind. Half of the traffic was trucks with the speed limit the same as cars, 75mph, and the terrain was very hilly made for some dicey moments. The first part of Arizona was desert, then pine forest and back to kind of a Red Rock desert. I never realize Flagstaff had an elevation of 6000 plus feet.
This goes after the guys selling, just an interesting view.

Lot of Indian stuff for sale

As soon as I cross the border into New Mexico the landscape changed, much better looking.
